Description
The Goldpanner Service Station is located at 809 Cushman Street in Fairbanks. The site is an operating service station that dispenses gasoline and diesel fuel. The former UST system was removed in 1995 and contaminated soils were overexcavated and treated. Passive ventilation piping was also installed during the tank upgrades, and this system was later upgraded to an active air sparging/soil vapor extraction system.

Public Health and Environmental Concerns
Petroleum and solvent contamination was been found in the groundwater at this site. Petroleum contaminants in the groundwater diminished through operation of the active remediation system began. Because Golden Heart Utilities supplies drinking water to this vicinity, drinking water wells were not expected to be impacted.

Current Status
Site closure through a No Further Remedial Action Planned (NFRAP) or No Further Action (NFA) approved in July 2004.
