Topographic map of area.

Description
The site was part of a historical Anti-Aircraft Artillery complex in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was subsequently used as a construction/storage yard and a surplus storage yard. Its current use is a construction company storage yard.

Public Health and Environmental Concerns
Chlorinated solvents and petroleum products have contaminated the soil and groundwater. In 1996, the US Environmental Protection Agency removed the remnants of approximately 1000 barrels containing a variety of hazardous substances from a pond located on the property and closed the open pond.

The soil and groundwater contamination is of limited extent. The site’s chlorinated solvent groundwater plume does not appear to be contributing to the regional area-wide groundwater contaminant plume.

Current Status
All active remediation is complete. Long-term groundwater monitoring is in progress.
